Healthy eating is one of the best ways to naturally strengthen your immune system this time of year. Join us for this demonstration class where our chef will cover and discuss immunity-boosting food groups such as essential vitamins, probiotics, fiber and hydration so you can shoot for your healthiest January yet!
Essential Vitamins: Consuming adequate amounts of Vitamins C and D found in citrus fruits, berries, dark leafy green vegetables, red and orange vegetables, fatty fish and fortified dairy products will help ward off those winter colds! Recipe demonstrated: Kale and Shaved Brussels Sprouts Salad with Apples and Hazelnuts.
Probiotics: Essential for "gut" health, foods containing "good" bacteria such as yogurt and kefir, sauerkraut, kimchi, kombucha and pickles support the immune system through healthy digestion. Recipe demonstrated: Homemade Miso Soup.
Fiber and Hydration: In order to assist in "getting healthy foods to where they need to go", fiber and hydration are necessary. Learn the differences between soluble and insoluble fiber, the importance of drinking water and the hidden treasure that is green tea. Recipes demonstrated: Green Tea Latte; Almond Flax Seed and Chocolate Chip Cookies.
During class students will sample all the dishes prepared by the chef.
